"Why am I telling you this? Beause Jericho rocks. The cast, the sets, the drama, the action – everything about it is 100% fantastic. And if my math is right, you’ve got 18 days to catch up and see what you’ve been missing. Season One is now available on DVD from Paramount Home Entertainment and it’s a great package. Rent it, buy it, borrow it from a friend – do whatever you have to do, but watch it. If you get started now, you should finish in time. (Actually, you might finish in a weekend.) Most importantly, tune in on February 12 and make CBS realize they did the right thing by giving Jericho a second chance at life. It deserves nothing less.
Are you a “Jericho” fan? Talk about it in the E-Gear forums."
"Just one week from today, the seeds of a revolution will be launched.
Buoyed by the success of the NUTS to CBS Jericho campaign in which fans sent 40,000 pounds of nuts to CBS headquarters in New York and Los Angeles and got an abbreviated seven-episode second season of their beloved show, fans of The 4400 settled upon another edible with a long shelf life: sunflower seeds.
The group has a web site, MySpace page, LiveJournal blog, online petition and more."

"Moving to a much newer show, the second season -- which begins Feb. 12 -- of the CBS post-apocalypse drama Jericho promises to be better than the first, at least from what I can tell by watching a preview DVD provided by the network. Now that they've established the basic premise (a small Kansas town tries to survive after nuclear attacks destroy several major cities and shut down the country), they can move on to more interesting things: the conspiracy behind the attacks.
I don't want to give away too much, but I can say that even with a quasi-national government in charge and society functioning again, things haven't gotten much safer for the residents of Jericho. By the end of the third episode, we've gotten hints that there are forces at work here just as threatening -- in the long run -- as the nuclear bombs.
Here's what I wrote about the first season after watching it on DVD last month:
It's just that the show is way too earnest and serious, and also too focused on dull domestic drama. The best parts -- and the reason to keep watching -- are the moments that give us small, frightening glimpses of what's happening in the rest of the country. Unfortunately, you often have to slog through sleepy story lines involving unfaithful husbands and a mayoral election to get to the more interesting question: who was behind the attack? At this point, it's the only thing keeping me watching.
Now, that more interesting question is getting a lot more play, which will keep me watching yet again."

Jericho DVD Review
"For a while it looked like this DVD release was going to be Jericho: The Complete Series. That would have been quite annoying as Jericho ended on a cliffhanger, with lots of questions still to resolve. Fortunately, the show had a fairly dedicated fanbase and was provided with the perfect angle for a show-saving campaign. As much as I (and many other people) really liked Jericho, if it had not been for the whole "Nuts" thing, Jericho almost certainly would not have gotten a second season. As luck would have it though, the "Nuts" bit provided a perfect avenue for fans to protest the show's cancellation in a tangible way.
While the series does get off to something of a slow start, it continually improves as the season progresses. The story is compelling, the characters are well-rounded and there are some surprising twists along the way."

Great article from Rich of Copywrite Ink today.
"Getting Wishes: Jericho Rangers"
He also has an interesting comment:
"Its hardly a perfect solution but as a temporary answer, if fans wanted to push a campaign forward ... it would start with Jericho DVDs and iTunes episodes (the pilot, specifically) as gifts, especially tying in the idea of taking each others for granted.
The second phase of the campaign would take place sometime in the second week in Jan., which would likely be a countdown to Jericho, focusing on the divided nation concept (which is much like the producers see it).
They are two separate campaigns.
The fans would also have to pool funds and do something that attracts attention, like purchasing ads in entertainment oriented publications, etc.
It could be done, but it would have be done on fan terms because I think you are your own."
***I think we're on our own too.***

"Just ask the cast and crew of "Jericho" how much losing momentum could be a killer.
Last season, networks experimented with long mid-season breaks, similar to what SciFi Channel had been doing for years with shows like "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis." Except it happened with disastrous results.
"Heroes" and "Lost" both suffered significant drops in their ratings when they returned after a lengthy mid-season hiatus, and "Jericho" went from being an early season standout to a late-season near-flop, to the point that CBS pulled the plug."
"This November sweeps is like no other sweeps period in memory. There are few of the stunts that the networks famously used in years past to boost ratings of local affiliates for setting ad rates, but there're lots of other issues for media buyers to ponder, and not the least of which is the strike by the Writers Guild of America that began yesterday. ABC is expected to win sweeps because of the high quality of its new and returning shows, and that's not expected to change--primetime shows have been backed up--but it's anyone's guess when it comes to late night, which will see the effect immediately, and daytime, which could be hurting shortly."
"Ultimately, the legacy of a prolonged strike could reduce the audience for network TV at a time when it has already been losing viewers for years to cable, DVDs and the Internet. Numbers from May 2007 show that the combined viewership of the four major broadcast networks - ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox - dropped by 2.5 million from the previous spring.
The last time there was a 22- to 23-week strike [in 1988], the networks lost 10 percent of their audience," says David Bianculli, TV critic for NPR's Fresh Air and tvworthwatching.com. "That's a huge chunk, and they'll lose at least that much now. It's going to be more and more difficult to convince viewers to come back."

"The wait will soon be over for Jericho fans. Expect the drama about America's favorite post-nuclear holocaust survivors to return to CBS by January, says executive producer Carol Barbee. The story planned for a full second season has been packed into the seven episodes ordered by the network and Barbee promises they won't disappoint those looking for answers about the nuclear attack. "By the end, you'll know who did this, why they did this, what their plan is and who is gong to prevail," she says."

What do you think? Did CBS intend to give us only 7 episodes? If all our questions will be answered where is the reason for a Season 3? Is this why CBS is not promoting or contacting us?
Even if Jericho moves to another network what will the story be?
We should all stop and think long and hard about what our plan is if CBS cancels Jericho again.

Also - do you work in an office where they buy gifts for clients? Why not suggest a Jericho DVD?

"CBS gambles on musical drama ‘Viva Laughlin’ and loses the jackpot"
It’s unfortunate that “Laughlin” is so inextricably bad because it does have an innovative concept. CBS is selling the show as a “mystery drama with music,” but — theater queens get ready — it’s a musical."
"Last spring, Leslie Moonves, chief executive of the CBS Corporation, delivered what several executives there described as a strong message to his programming troops: find us another hit, fast.
That urgency was something of a departure for CBS, where executives pride themselves on qualities like steadiness and stability and on an overall approach of rebuilding the network “brick by brick,” as Mr. Moonves frequently puts it."

"It is almost impossible to look at the history of this show and deduce that it has been handled anything but badly from the very beginning. Of late CBS has exhibited more poor decision making by placing the summer re-runs on a Friday night where they were almost certain to be preempted by pre-season football. These re-runs were supposed to introduce a whole new audience to the serial drama and the fans told their families, friends and whomever would listen to watch creating a troubling scenario."
"The promotional campaign for the Jericho Season One DVD was no more reassuring for the fans than the summer re-runs. In fact the release day came and went with very little fanfare prompting Cinemablend.com to ask the Question “Did You Forget Jericho”."
Many thanks to PaintedHors1 for this:
"Overwhelmingly, there is a feeling that CBS is not supporting Jericho. Several reasons were given, including; #1 lack of advertising at the corporate level for the Jericho DVD set. #2, Lack of input and update of materials available on this website (notice the re-airing dates are STILL here, and there has been no input from CBS corporate in regards to new material, direction, etc. #3, no official merchandising for Jericho. #4 will there be anything in way of a media blitz preceeding the start dates for the new episodes?
Taken individually, these are fairly random points of interest, but when you do the math here, it easily adds up to an overall lack of interest. From the very idea of only seven new episodes, which equates to only 1/3rd of a season) to no new corproate statements to Kid Nation having 100% more merchandise available from Jericho, you end up with a pretty dim picture.
It is the obvious offering to give CBS the benefit of the doubt, but considering the reletive comatose nature of the boards since the new episode annoucement, it is our belief that CBS needs to provide some information at this point. Using Nina Tasslers words, we the existing fanbase of been entrusted with the care and upkeep of growing the Jericho fan base and expanding on it. This is great, but with no input from corporate, we have a serious lack of tools available to us in order to proceed. CBS is much more in the catbird seat and could easily advertise Jericho all over the viewing schedule, and this is much more than our collective can achieve. In short, without direct input from CBS, we are spinning our wheels.
The new 7 episodes are most certainly a wonderful thing, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. 7e provides barely enough time to close existing story lines/arcs, and not nearly enough time to complete a new story line. This leads me and others to feel that perhaps this is set up to fail, with CBS now being able to say "see? we told you so".
I think I can comfortably say that we ALL feel differently. I think that it is also safe to say that we need some information and updates, in order to be ready should a media blitz for the 7 new episodes ever actually come. I do not personally feel that we need to know the specific sttart date just yet, but I do think we need to know CBS's advertising plans, so that we; the people the Nina entrusted; can act accordingly.
Please everyone, take this to heart. We are at a point in time here where we have lost steam, and I believe that CBS not only knows this, but expected this. We need to rally, get the intel we need to fight from CBS, and BE READY. Yes they might not have an official start date assigned yet, but even so, if they clue us in just a little bit into what they plan to do, we can ram the show home a lot more successfully than we could without CBS's input.
Please read this everyone. Talk to each other. Post comments here. Offer suggestions and/or additional questions. We need to get motivated and we need to be prepared. Our original effort was truly a wonderful thing in that we DID NOT let up our fight. I think at this time however, the 2nd round could easily be our undoing if we don't get organized NOW."

"DVR Viewing Delays Clear Ratings Picture "
"The broadcast networks were in a holding pattern last week, as the hefty DVR
viewing of their premiere-week shows made it nearly impossible in the short term to determine actual viewership levels and the true success or failure of the new slates.
Making the situation more complex is the fact that Nielsen (a sister company of Adweek) is not expected to release its live-plus-three-day-commercial-ratings data—the currency in which nearly all advertisers used to get their viewership guarantees—until Oct. 15."

"After alienating media buyers with its secretive run-up to Kid Nation, CBS is now openly courting Madison Avenue with an advertising jingle contest show."

"They're called "instant reruns" by the networks, and now these encore presentations can be counted in a new way by Nielsen Media Research.
NBC is the first network to utilize a new system by Nielsen that will allow some of its programming to have both the original airdate and the encore aired later in the same week included in a single ratings report, rather than two separate reports. The first show to utilize this new system is "Heroes," which premiered Monday night and will have an encore run Saturday. Instead of two separate ratings, NBC has opted for one single one that will include viewers from both airings."

Friendly Suggestion:
"There has been some noticeable backlash on Hey! Nielsen to both Supernatural and Jericho fans in regards to the high volume of opinions about the show being posted over the past few days. And while some of those people have used a tone that I don't particularly appreciate or agree with, I think that they might be right: if Jericho fans are seen as "spamming" Hey! Nielsen, any promotional opportunity is vastly weakened."

News from 23rd August 2007/Germany
Production Manager Torsten Nobst of Paramount Germany announced the people of serienfans.tv last week, that there WILL BE a german Jericho DVD.
Yesterday (Wednesday) the Team of Jericho-TV.de had the chance to talk to Torsten Nobst. He told us that it ISNT planned to release a german Jericho DVD. Paramount Germany is going to release the german version of the DVD, only if there are orders from the American Mother company and that didn't happen yet.
So the Jericho-TV.de team made another petition to get us the DVD as soon as possible...
We would be really glad if you could help us again and sign the petition.
"Jericho' Fans Flock To Kansas For Convention"
"There may be no real Jericho, Kansas ... but at least for this weekend, Oakley is close enough."
"Q. ABC has signed Lost for another three seasons but what night is it going to be airing? According to the TV commercials, Wednesday's lineup is booked. Same thing goes for Jericho. I am a loyal fan of both shows. — R.A.G., Hollywood
A. Neither ABC nor CBS has locked in a time period for Lost and Jericho, respectively. Don't fret over fully booked lineups. Neither of your favorites is scheduled to return until midseason and there will be cancellations galore within weeks of the start of the official Nielsen season on Sept. 24. ABC has three new series penciled in on Wednesday, the most likely night for Lost's return. History teaches that an all-new night almost never works, because there is no established series to bring traffic to the network. Jericho has only a seven-episode order, so CBS has many options, including using it as a buffer between the two editions of Survivor. I'm not saying this is the plan but it is one of the options."

*** Announcement***
I am happy to report that Fan Central has established a Jericho Ranger of the Week project. This is totally separate from the JerichoMonster Fan of the Week so you have a chance of being selected from both places. Thanks.
PLEASE HELP!! JERICHON NEEDS YOU!!
There is a very real possibility that the Jerichon Convention may not take place if the organizers don't receive at least 50 more pre-registrations before the September 1st deadline. Come on Rangers! We were able to send 20 tons of nuts to CBS, certainly we can get 50 more people to commit to coming to the convention! I know, I can't really afford it either, but I'm going anyway especially since my flight reservations are not refundable. So, carpool if you can, share rooms or whatever it takes. We need to make this a success to ensure future conventions and to show CBS how dedicated we are to Jericho.
Spread the word - GO TO JERICHON 07!!

1. We are not trying to form the *official* or *only* Jericho Fan Club.
2. Jericho Kansas is not an exclusive club. Our mailing list is open to all. To sign up go here. The mailing list will keep you up-to-date with the progress we are making on our non-profit status and will announce when we are open for memberships.
3. This corporation is not for personal gain. We are forming a non-profit corporation, which by definition, has assets that are irrevocably dedicated to charitable purposes.
4. We are taking into account what the fans want, by keeping track of concerns that the fans have expressed and forming a Fans Advisory Committee.
5. We are forming this club slowly to make sure that all concerns are addressed and that all legal procedures are followed. We regret that it is taking so long, but we want to do this right!"

Greetings to all Jericho Fans in Germany
I received this note from a German fan (Ryo) today:
"It's very important for us to see the series on TV. Unlike in the states, there is no DVD release scheduled in Germany."
They need the DVD over there too! Look at his website and click on the flag for English.
Also, Greetings to all Jericho fans in Australia.
Here's an article from over there:
"Viewers left in the dark"
It says, in part,
"It begs the question, what would it take for network executives to peek out from behind their ratings charts and stop counting their advertising dollars and check out what us viewers have to say?
Surely it shouldn't take a pile of nuts to effect some change . . .
So we here at AdelaideNow are handing the power over to you: if you were in charge of any one given network what programming peeve would you like to see changed?"
I'll ask the same question now. What programming peeve would you like to see changed?
Just leave a comment.
Greetings to fans of Jericho in Canada:
I asked a Canadian fan today what Canadians want when it comes to Jericho. He said, "We want to be counted." This, he said, means by Innertube or Nielsen."
His reasoning is sound. He says, "Montreal is about 45 min from the N.Y. border and we all watch American networks. I watch Jericho on W.C.A.X- Vermont and we see an ad that says.."If you have missed any CBS show, go to CBS.com and watch "...(innertube) When I try, A message pops up and says sorry, It's for U.S. viewers only!!!!! This just ticks me right off!!!"
It would make me mad too because like he adds, "So many Canadian dollars are spent in places such as Plattsburg N.Y. or Burlington VT. There are buses that leave here just to take you shopping in these cities. When it comes to T.V. sorry you don't count!!!! It's not like I am on the other side of the world!!!"
Come on, CBS. They can watch on American TV, buy the products you advertise, and can't be counted or use Innertube. Where do you see "CBS Cares" in that?
Jericho is loved around the world. Imagine having the hardships to see it that our fellow fans do.
